How I work

A clear process, written down, with no surprises. You see real progress early and decide at each stage.

The four stages

  1. Understand

A conversation about your organisation, your audiences and what the website needs to achieve. I look at your current site, your content and how people use it, and we agree the goals in writing.

  2. Prototype

Before you commit to the full build, I make a working prototype on a private link: real pages, with your real content, that you can click through on your own phone. Not mock-ups.

  3. Build, migrate and launch

I build the full site, move your content across, redirect every old address, and test on real devices and assistive technology. Your team is trained before launch, and every launch has a way back if anything goes wrong.

  4. Look after it

After launch I keep the site secure, backed up and up to date, monitor it around the clock, and make small changes as you need them, with response times agreed in writing.

What you can rely on

  • A fixed scope and price, in writing, before work starts.
  • Payments staged across the project, not all up front.
  • You own your website. Once it’s paid for, the code, design and content are yours.
  • Full handover documentation, so any competent developer could pick it up.
  • Standard, well-supported open-source technology. No proprietary lock-in.

Questions people ask

Who owns the website?
You do. Once the project is paid for, the code, design and content belong to you, and I hand over everything needed for someone else to maintain it.
What happens if you’re unavailable?
Sites are monitored around the clock, backed up daily and can be restored quickly. Response times are written into every support agreement, and the handover documentation means your site never depends on one person’s memory.
How long does a project take?
It depends on the size of the site and how much content needs moving. Many rebuilds take six to twelve weeks from agreeing the scope to launch. You’ll get a timeline before you commit.
What does it cost?
Every project gets a fixed quote after a short conversation. Get in touch and I’ll give you a clear figure, in writing.
